Getting it
right the first time. Commitment, innovation and dedication.
That and more is what John P. Coleman brings to Commonwealth
Business Services.
A Certified Public Accountant with nearly 15 years of
corporate and individual tax experience, John succeeded the
former ownership of Commonwealth Business Services in May
2006. Today, his client base continues to grow as more
people discover his attention to detail and commitment to
his customers.
In February 2004 John began his full time entrepreneurial
tax venture serving individuals and businesses in the
Alexandria and Arlington area. Before starting his own
business, John worked for five years at Gannett Co., Inc. in
McLean, Va. The world’s largest publishing company, Gannett
owns USA Today and over 100 local newspapers around the
country. John developed and implemented over 100 tax
strategies that saved the company over millions in
taxes. John’s success at Gannett attracted individual and
business clients looking for innovative tax services.
Prior to working at Gannett, John worked for six years at
Deloitte & Touche in Washington, D.C. While there, he
generated over $1 million of business in his first year in
management. His clients included government contractors and
technology, medical research and real estate management
companies.
John knows the value of education and is dedicated to
helping the less fortunate. He has labored to create The
Washington Latin Public Charter School, a public/private
college preparatory school in Washington, D.C. Since its
opening in Fall 2006, this tuition-free school has enrolled
175 children in the 5th, 6th and 7th grades. The school will
eventually provide 800 students in grades 5 to 12 a high
quality education previously available to only a chosen few.
John currently lives in Fredericksburg, VA. He has both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in
Accounting, with concentration in tax, from Virginia Tech. A
member of the American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants, he passed all four parts of the CPA exam on his
first attempt in November 1991. John is also a member of the
National Society of Accountants and the Better Business
Bureau. |
