Our Mission
The European Heritage Institute is a private educational organization that aims to foster knowledge and understanding of Europe, its languages and its vast heritage.
Languages, literature, art history, studio arts, architecture, interior design, fashion, performing arts, history, business, cooking, wines, and more are offered.
Our Profile
The Institute was founded in 1987 by a group of American-European educators and is registered at the Virginia State Corporation Commission under N. 303451-9. It has a network of connections and affiliations with European educational and business organizations and institutions of higher learning, the Institute promotes and sponsors a variety of cultural activities and educational programs. These programs include study abroad in Austria, France, Italy and Spain, support services, and cultural activities.

It specializes in arranging independent study programs for individuals and one-on-one instruction. Individuals and groups may study in one or more countries or cities.
Officers
Dr. Antonio Masullo, President of the European Heritage Institute, is a professor of Foreign Languages at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. He is specialized in distance education, global and international studies, and the use of technology. He has organized many study programs in Europe and made arrangements for independent study for both students and adults for over 20 years.
Barbara Cotter, Director and Treasurer of the European Heritage Institute, has a Master's degree from Boston College and a diploma in advanced Italian from the School of Dante Alighieri at the University of Florence. She has studied and led numerous study groups in Europe, including week-long sessions on Italian cooking and culture.
